11) Why is BS-7036 a consideration? This is the British Standard revised in 1996 for "safety at powered doors for pedestrian use." It covers all aspects of risk assessment for straight, curved, sliding, folding, swing and revolving doors. Whilst not yet legally binding, these recommendations will undoubtedly be taken into consideration should an installation result in an accident or injury. We strongly recommend that any person responsible for specifying and/or installing automatic door equipment is familiar with the requirements of the standard. End users must also comply with the standard by ensuring that equipment is regualrly maintained and serviced by authorised technicians. |
